Lewis Chimes has dedicated his professional life to representing individuals who have suffered injury as a result of discrimination, negligence, or misconduct. His practice focuses primarily on individuals with employment issues. He also handles personal injury, civil rights, criminal, and general litigation matters.
He has tried over fifty cases to verdict, and appears regularly in the state and federal courts. In employment litigation, he has gotten the largest race discrimination verdict ($3.4 million), and largest individual ERISA verdict ($1.3 million) in Connecticut. In one sexual harassment case, he obtained a post-trial settlement of $285,000; the defendant’s best offer in the case prior to trial was $5,000.
Attorney Chimes also had broad experience in alternative dispute resolution. He has negotiated or mediated hundreds of cases, including numerous multi-million dollar settlements.

Attorney Chimes is on the Board of Governors of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, and chairs its Employment Law Committee. He is also on the Board of the Connecticut Special Olympics, and has been their legal advisor for over twenty years.
Attorney Chimes is a graduate of Tufts University and Columbia Law School. After graduating from law school, he started his career as a prosecutor in the trial division of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office. He has been representing individuals in the state and federal courts of Connecticut since 1990. He opened his own practice in 2012.
